Sump Pump Installation in Denver

Protecting Denver Basements from Flooding Since 1962

Denver’s summer thunderstorms and spring snowmelt don’t give much warning. When groundwater rises fast, a properly installed sump pump can help reduce the risk of a costly flood cleanup. Allen Service has been handling residential plumbing across the Denver metro area since 1962, now led by third-generation brothers Jeff and Mike Allen. Same-day service is available, and our team responds to plumbing emergencies 24/7.

Denver sits on clay-heavy soil that doesn’t drain well. Instead of dispersing groundwater, that soil pushes moisture against foundation walls under hydrostatic pressure, the force water exerts against a structure as it accumulates in saturated ground. Front Range snowmelt compounds the problem each spring, and the summer storm season can raise groundwater levels within hours. A sump pump installed at the lowest point of your basement or crawl space activates automatically to remove that water before it can rise and cause damage.

Allen Service installs sump pumps for Denver homeowners throughout the metro area. Call (970) 431-6574 to schedule same-day service or request an appointment online at allenservice.com.

Why Denver Homeowners Choose Us for Sump Pump Installation

What Sump Pump Installation Includes

Whether your home has never had a sump pump or you’re replacing a failed unit, the scope of work differs depending on where you’re starting. Our technicians assess your basement or crawl space, recommend the right pump type and capacity, and complete the installation, typically in one visit thanks to fully stocked trucks.

New Installs vs. Replacements

New installations are more involved than replacements. When no pump previously existed, the job requires excavating a sump pit at the lowest point of the basement, which often means cutting through concrete flooring. From there, the pump is placed and connected, and a discharge line is routed to carry collected water away from the foundation to a drainage area or municipal storm drain.

Pump selection depends on your home’s conditions:

  • Submersible pumps sit inside the pit, run quieter, and handle heavy groundwater activity well, making them a common choice for Denver homes with active basements.
  • Pedestal pumps sit above the pit, cost less upfront, and are easier to service.

Sizing matters too. Homes in high-activity areas or those that have experienced repeated flooding may need at least a half-horsepower unit. After installation, we test the system by confirming that the float switch, the mechanism that triggers the pump when water reaches a set level, activates correctly and that water discharges properly before we leave.

Signs Your Denver Home Needs a New Sump Pump

Most residential sump pumps last 7 to 10 years, and those in basements with frequent water activity tend to wear out sooner. If your pump shows any of the following, it may be time for a replacement.

  • Visible rust or corrosion on the pump body
  • Grinding or rattling sounds during operation
  • The pump runs continuously without shutting off
  • The pump fails to activate when water rises in the pit
  • Water appears in the basement despite having a working pump

Homes without any sump pump that have seen water intrusion after rain or snowmelt are candidates for first-time installation. Properties in low-lying areas or with yard grading that directs water toward the foundation face elevated risk and can benefit from installation before a flooding event occurs.
