Mold Removal The Name You Know and Trust

Fort Collins Mold Removal and Remediation

Removal That Addresses the Source, Not Just the Surface

You already know the mold is there. What you need now is a team that removes it correctly, addresses what caused it, and leaves you with a home where the problem is resolved.

Surface treatment that ignores the moisture source brings the mold back. At Allen Service, our remediation process removes growth, corrects the conditions that allowed it to develop, and verifies the work before we leave. That's the difference between a cleanup and a fix.

Contact us at (970) 431-6574 to schedule mold removal in Fort Collins. We handle remediation for residential properties across the Front Range.

Our Mold Remediation Process

Mold remediation follows a defined sequence. Skipping steps or rushing the order creates risk of cross-contamination and incomplete removal. Our technicians follow a process that protects the rest of the home while the affected areas are addressed.

The steps in our remediation process include:

  • Containment of the affected area – Before removal begins, we contain the work area to prevent spores from spreading to unaffected parts of the home during remediation. This includes plastic sheeting, negative air pressure where appropriate, and controlling HVAC airflow through the space.
  • Identification and correction of the moisture source – We address the water source that caused the growth before removing the mold. A plumbing repair, ventilation correction, or vapor barrier installation happens here, not after the cleanup.
  • Removal of mold-affected materials – Porous materials with significant mold growth, including drywall, insulation, and wood framing in some cases, require removal rather than surface treatment. Our technicians identify which materials are remediable and which need to come out.
  • HEPA vacuuming and surface treatment – After material removal, surfaces in the work area are HEPA-vacuumed and treated with antimicrobial agents appropriate to the surface type. This addresses residual spores on non-porous surfaces.
  • Air scrubbing during and after remediation – We run HEPA air scrubbers during and after the remediation process to capture airborne spores before they settle on clean surfaces.
  • Clearance and verification – Before containment is removed, we verify that visible growth has been eliminated and that moisture readings in the affected area have returned to normal levels. You don't move on to reconstruction until the remediation work is confirmed.

After clearance, we're available to handle repairs and material replacement for areas where drywall, insulation, or other materials were removed. The restoration work is handled by the same team.

What Mold Remediation Covers in Your Home

Mold grows wherever moisture reaches organic material and lingers.

The areas our remediation team most frequently addresses:

  • Basements and crawl spaces – Ground moisture in Front Range homes creates persistent growth conditions in below-grade spaces. Crawl spaces with inadequate vapor barriers and basements without active dehumidification are frequent sources of mold that spreads to adjacent wall framing and floor joists.
  • Bathroom and kitchen walls and ceilings – Ventilation failures in bathrooms and kitchens allow steam and humidity to accumulate in wall cavities and ceiling materials. The visible growth on tile grout is often the minor part of a larger problem behind the wall.
  • Attic spaces – Attic mold is common in Colorado homes where inadequate soffit-to-ridge ventilation traps warm, moist air from the living space. Roof framing and sheathing are the primary materials affected.
  • Areas adjacent to previous water damage – Homes that experienced flooding, pipe leaks, or appliance failures are at elevated risk for mold growth in the materials that absorbed water. If the drying process wasn't thorough, growth develops in the walls and floors that were wetted.

Our technicians assess the full extent of the growth before remediation begins. What's visible on the surface is not always the full picture.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mold Removal

The questions below come up consistently from homeowners preparing for mold remediation.

Do We Need to Leave Our Home During Mold Removal?

For small, contained remediation projects, occupants often remain in the home during the work. For larger projects involving significant material removal, air scrubbing, or remediation in central living areas, temporary relocation is sometimes necessary. We assess this based on the scope and location of the work and give you a clear recommendation before work begins.

How Long Does Mold Remediation Take?

A contained bathroom or closet remediation may take a single day. A more extensive project involving multiple rooms, a full crawl space, or significant drywall removal takes longer. We provide a timeline estimate once we've completed the assessment and know the actual scope of the work.

Will the Mold Come Back After Remediation?

Not if the moisture source is corrected. Mold that recurs after professional remediation is almost always the result of an unresolved moisture problem. Our process addresses the source before removing the growth, which is why we don't skip that step even when the homeowner wants to move quickly to cleanup.

Can Mold Be Removed Without Tearing Out Walls?

Sometimes. Non-porous surfaces like tile, glass, and sealed concrete can be cleaned and treated without demolition. Porous materials like drywall and insulation with significant growth embedded in them need to be removed rather than treated. Our technicians assess each material in the affected area and tell you specifically what needs to come out and what doesn't.
