AIR DUCT CLEANING AND AIR QUALITY SERVICES THROUGHOUT FORT COLLINS COLORADO

Clean Air Ducts Reduce Air Pollutants

As an environmental health risk, indoor air quality ranks among the top risks that most of us are subjected to today. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states that indoor air can be as much as 70 times more polluted than outside air. What this means is that with our tightly constructed energy-efficient buildings we have created an environment that can trap contaminants and not allow them to escape or dissipate. Irritation from these sources can go hidden, especially if we are otherwise healthy and leave the home each day and are therefore exposed to a number of hours of fresh air. But certain persons among us are more susceptible to irritation from these sources including the invalid and ill, those with respiratory conditions, the very young and the elderly, and those who have allergies or sensitivities to specific contaminants.

Our body is an amazingly complicated, yet fragile entity. Have you ever noticed how fast your respiratory system reacts when you catch a breath of foul-smelling air, if the pollen count is high, or if there is a high airborne dust or humidity content? This is because our respiratory system is extremely sensitive to the air we inhale. We need pure oxygen, and if that oxygen is carrying a foreign substance our body reacts, and reacts fast. That is why people can go to work in a sick building and immediately have the symptoms of tiredness and itchy eyes, and then feel fine shortly after they leave. Just think of the impact that poor indoor air quality in our homes can have on us when we spend so much of our time there…

Why do I need to clean my ductwork?

Why clean something we can’t see? Because what you can’t see can hurt you. This isn’t true for all people - many people will not have a physical reaction to typical household airborne dust. But those with allergies, asthma or other sensitivities can have mild to severe reactions. In this case the answer is obvious; any preventive measures are worth taking.

and we'll confirm within 30 minutes during regular hours or by 8am the next business day.

For others, it’s simply an issue of cleanliness. The thought of breathing feces from dust mites or the residue left behind by previous occupants is enough to have their duct system cleaned. If you or someone sharing your living space is being subjected to the pollutants listed below (or has any of the susceptibilities mentioned above) you may stand to benefit greatly from having these contaminants removed.

Types of Pollutants:

These and other impurities commonly cause allergic reactions, breathing difficulties, infections and disease and can cling to every square inch of your air duct system. Even if your home is well maintained or relatively new the duct system may still contact a great deal of construction debris left behind in your comfort system.

The Process - It's as simple as 1,2,3

If you choose to do air duct cleaning, the entire HVAC system needs to be cleaned, not just the air ducts. The air ducts are just one component of your comfort system and thus, only one area where you may be exposed to pollutants.

  • We remove, soak and clean the register covers to remove cooking oil film, nicotine film and other dust-collecting substances. If any of your registers or grilles is damaged we’ll inform you and offer repair or replacement options.

  • We deep clean the source of the air supply including (where applicable) the blower wheel, furnace cabinet, a/c coils, condensation pan and return air supply.

  • The entire duct system is then vacuumed clean using special tools and agitation devices.

  • We will offer you the option of sanitizing your air ducts and vents with an EPA-registered bactericide sanitizer, which is fog-injected throughout the entire system, leaving behind only a fresh scent. Specifically formulated for use in ductwork systems this bactericide does not require the evacuation of family members and pets from the occupied space while the system is being treated.

  • The Technician will assess your specific filtration needs based on your sensitivities and the type of pollutants found in your system. At minimum, we’ll install a new pleated high efficiency air filter.

  • At your option our Technician may then clean your dryer vent.

  • Your system is inspected to ensure the job was done right!

  • All registers and grilles are re-installed and the system is performance tested by our qualified HVAC Technician.

The final step to the continued efficient operation of your heating and cooling system is periodic maintenance. Regular cleaning and servicing will keep your system operating at its peak energy efficiency and safe operation.
