Pipe slope and low-flow toilets

Filed under: Drain Repairs, Plumbing Repair, Sewer Repairs, Unclog drain, Unclog sewer

Low-flow toilets are a good investment because they use less water than regular toilets, so they save money on water costs and are definitely environmentally friendly. They can be a good long-term investment, and many new homes are being built with them. Low-flow toilets can have problems, however, if the available water does not carry the waste all the way to the sewer. If the piping out of your Fort Collins area home isn’t sloped enough, it may clog at the low spot and sewage could back up into your toilet. Your municipality has codes specifying the minimum slope for sewage pipe, but you should still discuss with your Allen Service  Plumbing expert whether it’s wise to create a steeper slope to ensure that your low-flow toilet functions correctly. In new construction, this should be assured before everything is installed. Obviously, you don’t want to dig up your yard if you can avoid it, but if you do develop a problem, the slope of the pipe could be at fault. Your Allen Service  Plumbing expert might perform a video inspection of the pipe to determine the cause. If you notice any issues with low-flow toilets in your Fort Collins home, ask your Allen Service  Plumbing expert to inspect your system for your protection.
